I was thrilled to see Die Antwoord on the Bonnaroo schedule, this will be the first time they've played 'roo. They are really worth checking out. Made up of Yolandi Visser, Ninja, and DJ Hi Tek, Die Antwoord is a South African Zef rap/rave band (hard to describe in words what that means). Very energetic, more than a little on the weird side, a lot of fun; definitely a jump around show. I'm hoping for a late night set from them.
I Fink U Freeky - one for the workout mix (NSFW)
Fatty Boom Boom - probably their best known one (NSFW)
Wat Pomp? - not great quality vid but has Jack Parow in it (NSFW)
So the lineup dropped yesterday. Interesting selection. Elton John should be a fun show, I saw him once about 20 years ago, good performer. There are some returning favorites of mine; Jack White, Skrillex, Carolina Chocolate Drops have all put on great shows at 'roo. I've wanted to see Die Antwoord for a while now, I think that would be an awesome late night show. I was surprised to see one name on the list:
Are you kidding me? Seriously? After how well his last "appearance" at Bonnaroo went? For those who weren't at 'roo 2008, here are some examples of outpouring of overwhelming gratitude and love from rooers after his performance.
Whoever booked Kanye must have a pretty perverse sense of humor.
